The “Why”
We absolutely love our candles, but they aren’t actually how this journey began. It’s our “why” that really lights our fire (you know we can't pass up a good pun).
We started Ignite Candle Company with a simple mission: To Ignite a passion for environmental conservation in future generations. This, we believe, is the key to lasting changes contributing to a better, greener, cleaner world.
The ugly truth is we have a really big mess on our hands, and we desperately need new big ideas to fix it. We need alternatives to plastics, carbon-positive production facilities, and grand-scale clean up efforts. Plus, we need all of them to be cost-competitive with the current destructive systems or they just don’t stand a chance. To achieve this big goal we are going to need the help of young minds, and we’re going to have to fight for their attention.
As kids gain more access to new tech they spend more time on their tablets, games, and tv screens and less time in the natural world. They are losing their relationship to the land, and no one is going to become passionate about saving something they don't really have a relationship with. That’s where we come in!
Ignite Candle Co. donates annually to local organizations that connect kids with nature.
In Montana we maintain a culture of deep connection with the great outdoors, but even here there are many kids who never get out of the city, who have never dipped their toes in the river, spotted a moose in Yellowstone, or gathered around a campfire after a long day of adventuring through the wilderness.
We are proud to currently partner with two local organizations that offer fantastic opportunities for kids to connect with the natural world. Zoo Montana and the Montana Audubon Center both offer wonderful youth programs which we are excited to be able to support. But that’s just the beginning, we have big dreams! We are working towards creating fundraisers for schools to implement field trips and someday even have a scholarship program for older kids pursuing degrees in environmental engineering or law. And we’d like to take these efforts beyond the limits of our beautiful state.
